It is not clear what led up to the shooting, but the suspect, who was seen wearing blue jeans, military-style boots and a dark jacket shot and killed a fellow passenger aboard a BART train in Oakland. The shooting occurred on Saturday, at approximately 7:50 in the evening, as the Bay Area Rapid Transit train pulled into the West Oakland station.
The BART spokesman, Jim Allison, was available to provided a brief statement regarding the incident. The shooter ran off the train after the shooting and remains outstanding. A medical professional aboard the train attempted CPR on the victim, but was unable to revive the fatally shot man.
Allison stated the train station was closed while police investigation continued and the train car has been taken out of service to collect evidence.
