Wearable Tech

Fitbit, it tracks your heart rate, movement, sleep patterns, give your GPS info, and provides you with notifications and music control. These dazzling little devices are pretty easy to wear and not too expensive with their flagship band, the Surge, topping out at $249.95.simple.b-cssdisabled-png.h018c460d261fb5b285009aa265acbc02 I see everyone wearing these things now and everyone I ask about it say the same thing, after they tell me how they found their band on sale at Target, they love the darn things. The three big features always mentioned are the heart rate monitor, the motion or step counter and the sleep tracker; plus you only need to recharge the band a couple times a week. All these features are neat and the long batter life is compelling, but it also makes me wonder. Why does it have such a long batter life? It’s still relatively small, not much larger than a regular watch, but can run laps around other modern batter operated tech. The answer was plain to see, the bit doesn’t really do all that much, a tiny black and white screen with quite basic functionality. Just about everyone has a cell phone with the ability to track you motion and heart rate; granted it takes a little effort to place ones finger over the bright red light and there is no really sleep tracker built into the phone. This does take us to the next tech- The smart watch.
